Information for Day of Service Activities

Please read ALL of these instructions!

Thank you for your willingness to serve in connection with our Stake Day of Service. It is a great opportunity to serve our neighbors and then go listen to stake conference. It's going to be a great day!

If you need to check your shift (i.e., the time and location), click HERE to go to the SignUp Genius page directly.

If your shift is from 9:00–11:00 am . . . .

  • Everything should be ready for you when you arrive. If it is not, please be patient. It is on the way.
  • Drivers for the Emergency Feeding Program will be dropping off collection barrels to each store location sometime before 9:00 am.
  • The drivers will have a letter of authorization to conduct the collection activities at each store. The drivers will be contacting each store manager before leaving the barrels and materials onsite. If you are there when the delivery occurs, please go with the EFP driver to meet the store manager and introduce yourself. Open communication is one of the keys to success.
  • If the delivery of barrels has already occurred before you arrive, the drivers will leave a packet of materials in one of the barrels. That packet of materials should include
    • Authorization letter
    • Flyers to hand to store customers listing needed items
    • An envelope for collecting cash
    • Other instructions
  • Please review the packet of materials. It should make everything clear. You are free to begin soliciting donations.
  • When you are done serving, please pass the materials, including any cash donations, to the people manning the next shift.
  • Have fun!

If your shift is from 11:00 am–1:00 pm . . . .

  • Everything should be ready for you when you arrive.
  • Check in with the people from the earlier shift.
  • When you are done serving, please pass the materials, including any cash donations, to the people manning the next shift.
  • Have fun!

If your shift is from 1:00–3:00 pm . . . .

  • Everything should be ready for you when you arrive.
  • Check in with the people from the earlier shift.
  • When your shift is over, you are free to leave the barrels onsite. EFP drivers will be picking them up sometime around or after 3:00 pm.
  • Please leave all of the leftover flyers, authorization letter, and other materials from the packet in one of the barrels.
  • Please DO NOT leave any cash onsite. Please take any cash collected for the day and deliver it to the high councilor assigned to your ward at church on Sunday.
  • Have fun!

Common questions and scenarios . . . .

  • What do I do if the people do not show up for the shift after mine?
    • Please call Paul Nelson at 206-650-4420 to report it. He will give you instructions. You are then free to leave.
  • What do I do if the barrels are filling up and we need new barrels?
    • Please call EFP at 425-277-0300 and let them know the situation. They will dispatch a driver to pickup the full barrels and drop off new barrels.
  • What do I do if we are running out of flyers?
    • Please call EFP at 425-277-0300 and let them know the situation. They will dispatch a driver to deliver additional flyers to you.
  • What do I do if I have called EFP to ask for new barrels or flyers and they're still not here?
    • Take a deep breath and relax. They will get there as soon as they can. There are lots of moving parts for this service and everything does not always work perfectly. Do your best. Improvise where necessary.
  • What do I do if some other situation arises and I need guidance?
    • Please call Paul Nelson at 206-650-4420 for guidance.

Thank you again for your willingness to serve!

Sign Up for a Shift

Add your name, email address, and phone number, identify your ward, and provide the number of people in your family/group and you will then be taken to the SignUp Genius page to select your service assignment. (You will be asked to enter your name and email address twice—once here on this page and then on the SignUp Genius page.)

Please note that if you are signing up as a family or a group and want to cover BOTH store entrances by yourself, please sign up for BOTH  spots on the assignment sheet. Otherwise, someone else may sign up and you will have a larger group at the store than is necessary. If you only sign up for one spot, you will be covering only one door with your family/group.

If you have already submitted this form and need to access SignUp Genius directly to add or change your assignment, click here.
